Hot Spot: The Science

How does HOT SPOT work? ZENO HOT SPOT has a built-in computer that controls the treatment tip. The treatment tip delivers an optimum level of heat to destroy the bacteria that causes acne (scientific name: P. acnes), and puts a stop to your pimple at its source.

It’s hot enough to get the job done, but not uncomfortable to the touch because it adjusts to your skin’s temperature to deliver just the right amount of heat. Most blemishes need two to three 2 ½ minute treatments to be completely eliminated but, in some cases, just one treatment can be enough to stop the blemish in its tracks.

In our clinical tests, 90% of blemishes disappeared or faded within 24 hours!

So, why does it work? Unlike many existing treatments for pimples you might have tried (like soaps, creams, or spot treatments), ZENO is clinically proven to destroy bacteria at its source. This clinical evidence, which resulted in ZENO’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and the recommendation of many dermatologists, makes HOT SPOT a safe and effective option for the treatment of mild to moderate acne.

In a 14-day randomized, controlled, double-blind study assessing the safety and effectiveness of ZENO for treating acne blemishes, 90% of blemishes treated with ZENO disappeared or faded within 24 hours. The FDA has reviewed these clinical trial results.

• 90% of blemishes disappeared or faded within 24 hours.
• 96% of blemishes disappeared or faded within 48 hours.
• 84% of blemishes disappeared or faded with only two treatments.

Our Most Recent Findings Clinical testing was conducted in both a controlled professional setting and a home-use setting to confirm that the ZENO treatment is as safe and effective as previously approved devices.

Each subject had two similar acne blemishes, and the blemishes were randomized for treatment with ZENO or a placebo device. Each blemish received a total of three treatments of 2 ½ minutes each. Blemishes were assessed by the physician investigator prior to each treatment and again on Day 5. Subjects were given a diary to complete for the assessment of their selected blemishes every morning and evening until resolution or Day 14.

Blemishes that were treated with ZENO resolved at a faster rate than those treated with the placebo device. ZENO-treated blemishes resolved on an average of 53.7 hours (2.3 days) faster than those treated with the placebo device. Additionally, blemishes treated with ZENO showed improvement approximately 30.8 hours (1.3 days) more quickly than those treated with the placebo device. When results for resolution of improvement are combined, subjects reported that ZENO-treated blemishes resolved or improved significantly faster than their clinically matched placebo-related blemishes.

96% of the blemishes treated with ZENO achieved resolution or improvement within 48 hours versus 63% of the placebo-treated blemishes. 100% of the blemishes treated with ZENO achieved resolution or improvement within 72 hours versus 75% of the placebo-treated blemishes.
